Unfortunately, it is difficult to find competent
practitioners who are adequately trained to work
with children and adolescents. Many
licensed therapists, clinicians, and case
workers claim that they know how to work with
young people. In reality, they may have very
little training in this specialty.
We believe that when
parents search for someone to work with their
child, they look for the very best. That
is why we have established the highest
certification standards available in the United
States for clinicians, therapists, and case
workers who claim to specialize in children and
youth.
In today's world
especially, it is important that parents and
healthcare professionals know who in their
communities are the best at helping kids reach
their potential. For this reason, in the
near future, AATCY will maintain a free
nationwide directory of all practitioners and
case workers that are credentialed through the
American Association for the Treatment of
Children and Youth.
Other organizations
departmentalize what they do for children as a
'portion' of their focus. But for us,
young people are the source and depth of our
passion. Their cause is our vision.
